Here ya go - my little attempt at spoofing Joss Whedon's classic, "Under Your Spell" - this song goes out to all my homies who added a review to the Amazon page for my book CAT'S CLAW (if you haven't put up your review and you're listening to this song then shame on you! Go to Amazon right now and post that review!)
I also want to send a shout out to the inestimable Jordan Katz who helped me with GarageBand.
Peace out.

I can't get the song to play.
ReplyDeleteI can't get it to play either. :-(
ReplyDeleteWow. I felt like I was in a fun house.
ReplyDeleteMiss Tara!
ReplyDeleteThat's crazy! My partner says it reminds her of Aphex Twin. She also says work that GarageBand shit. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's weird, but I actually like it.
I like the beat to it for a spoof it came out quite awesome. Thanks for trying to help me in trying to get the song to play Amber you're quite amazing! -thumbs up- :)
ReplyDeleteLOL that is awesome!!! I would love to put up a review, but I have not got the book yet (although I really really want to) I read bits of it every chance I get when I go to the book store :)Mabey I could buy it this friday and put up a review by monday! I've been dying to find out what happens since cat's claw!!! Also it would be great if you could come to Louisville, Kentucky for a book signing! that would be sooo AWESOME! <3
ReplyDeleteNicely done Amber. It's an exotic melange of Bollywood sitar fused with techno industrial dance club ambience with an undercurrent of your breathy voice breaking over the waves to waft heavily emphasizing on the "lost in ecstasy..." lyric.
ReplyDeletetoo fun! i used the same signature middle eastern riff in a piece i did for a theatre company. i haven't done a review yet but i did just get home from the book store with serpent's storm and a new iain m. banks to refill the reading pile. enjoyed cat's claw and death's daughter. also just firmed up some plans for an animated web series/concept album w00t!
ReplyDeleteIn the words of another critic I know, "That is a very interesting interpretation."
ReplyDeleteIt's perfect for the big finale of one of Mr. Tap Shoes' Bollywood epics! I can see you dancing with the ninja Gopi now....
ReplyDeleteFun song! I imagined it being sung under waterfall with 20 desis in the background singing and dancing as backup, whilst a beautiful indian man competes for your heart in pure bollywood style ;D
ReplyDeleteAmazing Amber, most definitely worth the wait :)
ReplyDeletebleh
ReplyDeleteAmber, this is great. Thanks very much!
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting...The familiar part is the best for me. Good stuff there.
ReplyDeleteLMAO!! Wtf Amber? Trippy song is trippy.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously tho' that song is very stoner-y.
Meh likes. :)
P.s you're wonderful.
Maybe it's the sappy romantic in me, but I like the original better. This one came off a bit... creepy.
ReplyDeletethis is actually really good! haha! Love it Amber, love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm writing this from a computer with no sound, so...sorry about that. From what I can gather from the other comments, I shall rectify that mistake with all due haste.
ReplyDeleteFrom the way you promoted it earlier, though, I kind of thought it would be a video. For some reason, that had me thinking about opening this with a George Takei-ish "oh, my..." or a "Great (insert entity here)'s Ghost!"
Never stop trying to top yourself. You haven't failed yet, I don't see you doing so in the future ("Attack of the Gryphon" notwithstanding, but that's just me).
Peace out, and enjoy your weekend basking in deserved adulation.
Oh...my, after all. That was, and I definitely mean it as a compliment, certainly...experimental. Bollywood-ish is not quite how I'd describe it; techno-beat poetry comes closest to mind.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm really starting to worry about what you'd do in a video of it; when I thought this was going to be a video, I'm afraid my expectations were coloured by a photo of you that I discovered accidentally (yes, really), the one of you wearing what appeared to be a cape, a dog collar with a chain leash, and at least the top half of a bikini.
Please promise to use your powers for niceness instead of evil...
And don't lose the bikini;)
i can't get it to work either :(
ReplyDeleteI'm not entirely sure what I just listened to. It was actually rather scary.
ReplyDeleteSuffice to say I just finished reading A Cat's Claw and i'm just writing the review now :) xx
If I were a professional singer I'd really get on my producer's nerves bugging him to let me do a country version of "UYS." ("REst In PEace" too.)
ReplyDelete_DaddyCatALSO
Insanely awesome! Great work, and thanks for sharing.

(my creative writing blog)
I don't really like it...Good job anyway :D
ReplyDeleteawesome awesome awesome.
ReplyDeletethat remix was one of the best i ever heard. too bad it wasn't in the actual episode. i feel like willow would have enjoyed this version even more...
ReplyDeleteAmber, that was awesome!! kinda trippy but love it!!
ReplyDeleteI freaked out because I thought I had forgotten to review it, so I went over to do it anyway... turns out I had written one after all, I had just forgotten about it XD
ReplyDeleteGreat job!I love it :)
ReplyDeleteWell, at first, I thought it would be...well, not that.
ReplyDeleteBut that definitely beat my expectations! (Seriously, my volume was way too high on my computer and I nearly fell out of my chair.)
Nice song!
ReplyDeleteMs Benson - loved you in Buffy. I was an addict to the series, as well as all of Whedon's shows. My 9-year-old daughter just finished a book she picked out on her own from Borders and told me it was SO GOOD - and that I had to read it. She couldn't put it down and she wants to read the next in the series. What a wonderful surprise it was for me to find out that YOU are the writer of this book my daughter liked so much. She is eagerly awaiting more stories of Noe and the New Newbridge Academy. Can't wait to read it. Thanks for keeping my kid's nose in a book for two days over break. Much luck to you and your success. Cat York
ReplyDeleteNoh - sorry. My daughter just corrected me.
ReplyDeleteInteresting song, and I just wanted to drop a note that my rpg group is starting to play the Ghosts of Albion tomorrow night, we've been playing the Buffy rpg for such a long time that we wanted something new but in the same system and wow it's amazing. Sorry to have such a fan moment but you are awesome the books I just bought and can't wait to read on my Kindle and I will always love your role in Latter Days, as a gay man it was nice to have Tara and Willow there to help me feel not so alone, ok I'm a dork thank you.
ReplyDeleteliken it and was a good go but not as good as original,, cracking voice amber
ReplyDeleteCreepy. :/
ReplyDeleteHey ho, I just stumbled across this blog after rewatching all the Buffys and then getting that annoyed restless end-of feeling so then decided to do some major Buffy trivia internet searchage. Needless to say it brought me here.
ReplyDeleteSo then with the general kudos for all things Amber Bensony. I just wish I could listen to this here remix but it ain't workin'!

ReplyDeleteam i the only one with this problem? :((

ReplyDeleteOh dear. I really don't like it, couldn't listen to the whole thing. :-(
ReplyDeleteBut kudos for continuing to engage with your fans and finding ways to keep the Buffy love alive…
Maybe the next one will be more to my taste. :-)
I've no idea what this is all about, but I want you to know I think it's brillient. You have blown my tiny little mind. Tara, this needs to be released as a single!
ReplyDeleteAMBER, even. OMG i'm so sorry. (I'm doing the very public patrick rothfuss walk of shame).
ReplyDeleteYeah! Thanks for the vid. It is so cool. Gotta go to Amazon now and write some review. More power! Marie Greenhalgh
ReplyDeleteUYS is a great song, from once more with feeling. I wish there were more buffy episodes, also with you(Tara) in them.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this, it's super catchy, it was stuck in my head the other day at work and I'm just like "Get me to the Internet now! I need to listen to a song!"
ReplyDeleteOf course I had to wait till I got home, but it was totally worth the wait.
