The Macarena Challenge

Okay, I have a favor to ask. If you have read the book I'm schilling (selling, pimping, whatever the Hell you wanna call it), would you post a review of it up on Amazon? I don't care if you loved Death's Daughter or hated it. Just post your thoughts; any and all. It would be very helpful and if I get 85 reviews going over at Amazon (not all by the same person) then I will post a video of me up on You Tube doing the Macarena.

You don't believe? Just try me. I do a nasty Macarena.

You'll have to wait a few weeks for my review, just ordered my copy from Dark Delacacies, and now waiting for your signing date there. :)
Then we have shipping time to down under.... :)

Sounds like the DDR fiasco from The Guild. I will repost it there if they will not just tale the link. ;)

I would be tempted to do a review even though I will have to wait for the book to arrive - I misread one of your twitters one day as "Just signed a few daughters over at Death's Bookstore"

If you add me on Twitter I shall go out and buy your book tomorrow... *dangles carrot* eh? EH? Only THEN can I review the goodies therein!

I definitely will take you up on the offer!

By the way, I've been wondering if you've been watching Dollhouse, and if you've been liking it?

Border's is not my friend today :( I even "reserved" a copy and they sold my copy ... Grrr! We need better bookstores and more culture in Ohio. Instead, they make us settle with football and false promises. I now stick out my tongue at Border's, scoff, and say, "I don't have to take this nonsense... I'm taking my business elsewhere and ordering it online!" Dark Delicacies here I come...

I picked up your book today on the way home from work. I am about a third of the way through it and loving it so far... I will definitely write a full review when I complete the book.

Ooh, Death's Daughter is totally at the top of my reading list now. You shall most definitely have a review from me once I've finished. Who could possibly resist you doing the Macarena?

Tarah said...

Just waiting on my copy arriving, hopefully delivery to aus won't take too long. Then gimme a couple days to read it and you'll have another review!

Better get that cam out and get ya groove on!

I was reading your book anyway, with or without the Macarena... Although now I am even more eager to finish it so I can post that review on Amazon :) You got it babe! Hey Macarena!

Oh my, gonna buy my friends books too, just so they can post a review, hope they're ok with reading English or else I'll have to translate it :p
Damn, macarena, haven't done that since I was like six or so.

Lol. I can't wait to see you do the macarena.
I just checked amazon and I don't need to buy it again to do a review, so it's cool (I must admit that to pay more in shipment than for the book itself bothers me). I just need to read it but that my dear, it'll have to wait 'till I have no more exams, which makes next week. Since I was going to write a review for Ultim'Art Creation's magazine... (Though I'm not sure they want it... It'll be a surprise? lol)

Dorothy, we're so doing the Macarena next week in LA ;) Rehersal time ;)

I'm going shopping late to try and get my bro a birthday present and am hoping to be able to get a copy of your book then. Fingers crossed my review will be up on there soon. looking forward to the video hahaha great idea

Wow.

Not that I needed any persuasion to both read the book and write a review, but that's just great. I totally wanna see you dancing the macarena!

Besides, all you Amber-Fans; I wanted to bring to your attention that I did an interview with lovely Amber on Death's Daughter (and other topics) which you will find at

I'll be happy to leave a review, but alas, I'm having to wait a few weeks before Amazon can get the book to me...*sadface*

I am an abysmally slow reader (mostly because I get about 10-15 minutes to read each day...) but I will try once I get you to sign my copy of the book today!

You posted the macaronies for me and so I shall gladly return the favor. Besides, it was an amazing read that deserves an awesome review. I read it in less than a day. When are the rest coming out?

Basket said...

oh man the macarena??
haha too hardcore of an offer to pass up on

Hey Amber! It's unrelated to this post but I wanted to thank you for being so awesome and down to earth at the book signing today...I really enjoyed meeting you, and I'm stoked that liked my Lenore artwork!

Amber, I am currently reading your book on my Kindle, and will review when finished. However, the formatting on the Kindle edition sucks. I've tried to report it to Amazon, but no replies. In the Kindle version, every paragraph break consist of several blank lines. Because of this, some pages may only consist of a handful of lines of text.

MicWithAMac said...

Woo HOO! I've now purchased not one, not two, but three copies. One to read now, from a local bookstore that didn't sell the copy I had reserved, to review(so we can all see the Macarena) and two others from Dark Delicacies- one for myself and one for my friend as a birthday gift.

I wasn't sure if I needed to send an e-mail or just fill out the comment box when I ordered from Dark Delicacies, but Sue promised to print out my e-mail and deliver it to you. When I met you in Huntington- to which I sent you a letter of apology and still can't apologize enough for, I mentioned the friend I just purchased the other copy for. Just think Mike and Amy. ;o)

Thank you, by the way, for just being so down to earth. You, and Adam- while I didn't grasp this until I had the chance to talk to him, are both extraordinary and genuinely nice people. It's not very often that one gets the opportunity to see such genuine characteristics in everyday people, and much less often when you get the chance to meet the celebrities you look up to as role models. I can't imagine you and Adam have never heard this before, but you are both class acts. So, thank you to both you, and Adam, for being who you are.

Hot kisses, pretty and do not need to dance the Macarena. You're an artist!

If the same person writes multiple reviews will they all count towards the 85 regardless?

Amber said...

Sorry, no multiples. I run an honest Macarena game here :)

I just finished reading the book and must say...it rocked! Now I'm off to write an Amazon review in hopes that we'll get that Special Edition Macarena!Amber soon.

Hi Amber. Have reviewedDeath's Daughter on Amazon.co.uk but as I've never purchased anything from Amazon.com I can't get a review on there. You could take the total reviews of BOTH sites and if we get past the magic number do the Macarena? You do have a small number of positive reviews on the UK site. We love ya! :)

I'm hoping to get a copy of the book soon. I wanna read it so bad because it sounds like such a blast to read. GO GO GADGET ECONOMY. Then I will read.

I posted my review, but I thought I would post it here for you....
Calliope is your stereotypical fashion socialite, and much like everyone else in New York has one "Hell" of a family.. I refuse to sum up the story as it has been done more than once here and I am sure you get the drift.
I completely agree with the grievances noted in the other reviews, The Heroine of the story whines a lot, an effing lot. Honestly aside from that this was a really good book, the story was interesting and had supporting characters that more than made up for Calliope's never ending whimpering. Great dialogue, engaging story I am recommending this to my friends, especially the The "Twilhards" (my nickname for the fans that support that drivel.) I mean if they could push through Breaking Dawn they will effing love this book.

Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore just sent me the book, but they didn't wait for the signing to get your autograph on it -- GAH! Apparently either they missed the request on the order form, or something got screwed up electronically and it didn't get to them. Now I'll never get that signature unless you get lost in rural Indiana ....

Poniac said...

Well my book arrived from Amazon today so I'm well on my way to providing that review and I'm looking forward to that Macarena :)

Poniac said...

Well, one book read, one review posted on Amazon, and one Macarena on the way. A good day!

While I agree that Calliope as a character needs to grow up (I like to think she's made a good start in her first adventure), I find this book to be a highly enjoyable "dark" fantasy lark. The relationship between Calliope and her younger sister is obviously drawn from Amber's relationship with her own sister; I'll assume that the other sister is pure invention (as well as the MacGuffin/diabola ex machina...I'm obviously winging it when it comes to Latin).

If I have one serious bone to pick (I won't get into the long wait for the next Ghosts of Albion novel...), it is the inclusion of pagans among those damned to Hell in this book. As a semi-practicing (don't ask) solitary Wiccan, I find it...troubling. I don't think this is Amber's attempting to distance herself from the Tara character (if it hadn't been for Tara, this book and Ghosts of Albion may have never been written), and I know from interviews our Ms. Benson has a respect (if not membership) for the Wiccan religion. Perhaps this will be answered in the next Calliope Reaper-Jones novel...

Finally, is it me or did Amber write the character of Calliope's forever-youthful mother for herself, if "Death's Daughter" makes it to TV or movies? Just a thought (BTW, Amber's recent performance in "Private Practice" deserves an Emmy nomination)...

Well i just got the book! Im very exicted to read it!

Sadly the growth of reviews might come to a hold now, since Amazon has done one very nasty thing against GLBT people, who do make up a fair part of your fanbase.

AND presumably due to the dazed and confused feeling Amber was left with after a minor fender bender she agreed last night, on air, to do said Macarena while wearing a Blogstein T-Shirt!

I've already written a comment (I'm #41; I also wanted to apologize about cancelling my membership almost as soon as I got it; I've had some financial problems and I am very belatedly trying to be a grownup) about "Death's Daughter;" this is about your series of "Bird Way" photos.

You throw stuff AWAY?? (Sorry, it's the inveterate packrat in me, and it sounded funnier in my head...)

Anonymous said...

#41 again...happened to see the newly-entered macarena video (although the computer I saw it on displayed it in a manner that can only be laughingly called "motion"); cute & fun(and almost reminiscent of beatnik performances from the '50's or '60's...by no means is that meant to be a slam against you; it's a slam against beatniks). So...what's next?
